I have a confession to make: I’m a huge nerd and love to read. That’s largely due to a one Hobie Hubbard. Ever since I was little we always had a tradition of going to our favorite local Nashville bookstore, Davis Kidd, picking out a new book, and reading it together. Through the years, the books graduated from “The Hungry Caterpillar” and “Harold and the Purple Crayon” to “State of Wonder” and “Where’d You Go Bernadette.” We said goodbye to Davis Kidd and hello to Parnassus. But throughout it all the tradition remained.
Last fall, things came full circle as Hobie helped me pick out books to read to my own little one. We had the best time and it brought back such special memories. In an age where everything is going digital, there was something magical about holding my old favorites in hand again and wondering which would be Jack’s favorite.
Below is a short little list of some books we picked out that day. While this list is far from comprehensive, it does include some extra special personal favorites. Enjoy!
